Toronto’s holiday parties are in full swing, and getting out to dance that chocolate and turkey dinner off your ass should be a number one priority!
Your time off work is precious, so make use of it wisely!
WWHG? (Where Would Heather Go?) 😛
BOXING DAY – DECEMBER 26 2012
I’m still in the middle of nowhere in Nova Scotia doing the holiday family thing, but I am drooling over these parties from afar!
Any party with Chris Sheppard (aka Dogwhistle) headlining is the definition of ‘Old School’. I had a compilation tape of his as a little kid (that I may or may not have stolen from my older sister) and jammed my lil heart out to it on my tape player. I didn’t know it then, but Chris Sheppard was a pioneer in the Canadian dance music scene introducing beats from all over the world through radio hosting and djing at big raves back in the day. I have never heard him play first hand so I am especially miffed about missing this one.
Sheppard will be joined by other old school heavyweights, Peter The Greek, Dr. Trance, John E, Mark Oliver, Manzone & Strong, Grimace and the beloved MC Flipside, so get your ass down to Footwork tonight to experience history you can dance to.
Here’s a taste of 1993 to get you in the mood:
THIS party will definitely make you sweat. One of my most favorite things to do is rinse that shit out on the dance floor. There’s a crazy lineup at this party tonight with all the DNB and jungle favorites, Sniper, Marcus Visionary, Mr. Brown, Dj Lush…and more. This is the party for all you junglists!
THURSDAY DECEMBER 27 2012
Old school breaks, dub, and other bouncy beats? YES PLEASE. Archi-Textures will have fresh beats for you Thursday night with Medicineman, T-Minus, Martin Fazekas and Davey Boom, and some eye candy thanks to the burlesque skills of Pretty Penny. Sounds like a party to me! I will be returning to Toronto this night so hopefully I make it out 🙂
T-Minus tore it up at Burnin’ Down Da House on Friday December 14, hear for yourself!
If you are in the Woodbridge area Thursday night, you should definitely hit up the weekly at T2 to hear Andy Warburton and Joee Cons.
For you DnB and Jungle lovers Thursday is going to be a decent night! Capital J is headlining at Nocturne and the Rollidge crew is throwin’ it down at Andy Poolhall. FUN!
FRIDAY DECEMBER 28 2012
MORE OLD SCHOOL! And this time specifically from 1994-1998 both from house and dnb/jungle genres. How can this NOT be a wicked time?
I fully plan on attending this!
James St. Bass throws it down almost 20 years ago:
Deep House lovers!!!!
Head to Riva for some Fake Housewives action from Shanelle Williams, Karlene Oliver, Ella D (who will be layin’ it down at Love and Dust on Saturday), Augustus and Jackie Spade. Every one of these people have been known to make me dance my ass off so there is no doubt in my mind that this party will be off the chain!
I am a big Jackie Spade fan!
SATURDAY DECEMBER 29TH 2012
THIS will be huge. A party spanning over the house, breaks, industrial and techno genres! aaaah!!
Desyn Masiello has to be one of my favorite Djs EVER. Coming from the UK to bring us deep house, house and tribal (or at least that is what he known to play) house lovers who attend this party will NOT be disappointed.
Squid Lid‘s live band act is quickly becoming popular in Toronto. Playing dark industrial as fun as their costumes, Love and Dust party patrons will be in for a real beat treat.
Hans Ohm, the man behind Archi-Textures, will be gracing us with his beat throwin’ skills to open the main room of the party and Justin James will techno us into another dimension closing the main room!
Free food and permission to wear whatever you want make this party one to come out to! Yes, you can wear your fun fur. No, you don’t have to.
If I wasn’t going to my own party I would be tempted to hit up Cajmere aka Green Velvet at Footwork!
SUNDAY DECEMBER 30TH 2012
Noon until 3am!
Ever wish you could go to a place to replenish the party machine AND hear great music? This Sunday your party prayers are answered!
A full brunch menu is available at Sazerac on King St. West as well was the sounds of Johnny AK, Tro, Hadiman, Liam DeSouza and more awesome djs.
Desyn Masiello and Justin James will be giving us ROUND TWO of awesome music after Love and Dust the night before. Speaking of Love and Dust, free entrance to this brunch jam is given to all who attend Love and Dust and all those who went to Squid Lid’s Krampus Ball…bonus!
Desyn will be flexing his well-toned house music muscles! 🙂
